St. Vincent de Paul's Food Pantry at St. Anne Catholic Church

The Mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

"A network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need." (1)

"The mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is like the mission of Jesus (Lk 4): to bring the good news to the Poor and to nurture life and hope where there is not much life and little hope. In the Vincentian spirit it is not enough to bring the Poor something to eat, but also to bring God’s love. Our founders understood that Jesus calls us to love those who are Poor, hungry, thirsty, naked, strangers, imprisoned and sick. They understood that Jesus identifies Himself with such as these. (Mt 25: 35-40).

The founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is Frederick Ozanam. Born in France in 1813 he was studying at the Sorbonne when a fellow member of a kind of debating club (the Conference of History, formed to discuss historical and literary topics) challenged Frederick and other Catholics to ‘Show us your works.’” (2) Thus was born the Conference of Charity or as we know it today, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The Society is named for the 17th century saint by the same name who, like Mother Teresa in the 20th century, knew no limits to the gift of self in behalf of the poorest and most wretched among us.

We have designated food pantry parking spots in the church parking lot. Please wait in your vehicle, a volunteer will come to your car. If you have an appointment, your food will be quickly brought to you. We do not require an appointment, but expect a longer wait as you make your food selections, our volunteers shop for you, and then bring your groceries to your vehicle. No one will be permitted to come into the pantry building.

We would prefer, but do not require, that your grocery shopping be by appointment. To schedule an appointment to shop, click the button below. You'll need information from your Food Pantry card to schedule your appointment. If you are a new customer, that is you do not have a food card, please complete the online application by clicking the “Request Food Pantry assistance - application” button below. You will be contacted by phone or email within a week of submitting your application.

After scheduling your appointment, you will fill out an online shopping list identifying the food items that you want. Please check all the food items that you are willing to accept. We will strive to have your order ready when you arrive for your appointment. Note that, since there is no way to know whether individual items will be available on any given day or time, the shopping list is only a guide for our shoppers. We will shop for you, based on your preferences, the size of your family and the food items that are on hand.

Given the limitations imposed by the amount of food available to us, we have to limit shopping to every two weeks. If your circumstances require, we can support your need for weekly shopping but with a reduced selection of available food.

You can schedule your appointment any Thursday, Friday or Saturday in the next two weeks but you cannot schedule an appointment any later than two days before an appointment or any sooner than 14 days since your last appointment.

The food pantry will be closed on Thursday, May 16th due to St Anne Catholic School's 8th grade graduation ceremony. We will be open as normal on Friday (May 17) and Saturday (May 18).
